Urgency is calculated against the standard timeline; the more the timeline is compressed, the higher the rate. To protect the intellectual and stylistic quality of the text, there are baseline thresholds below which I will not accept a commission.

All communication, files, and manuscripts are treated as strictly confidential by default. For unpublished research, sensitive archival data, or unreleased literary manuscripts, I am happy to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before any files change hands. I operate strictly on a need-to-know basis.

Never for the intellectual, conceptual, or creative core of the translation. Every lexical, stylistic, and structural decision is entirely mine. I utilize modern productivity tools — such as translation memories for internal consistency and professional terminology lookup databases — but the writing is purely human. If a client specifically requests machine-translation post-editing (MTPE), we must agree on the scope and pricing in advance.

Microsoft Word with tracked changes is my standard delivery format. However, I also work seamlessly within LaTeX (common in quantitative humanities and logic-dense philosophy), Adobe InDesign (preferred by publishing houses), and Google Docs. Scanned PDFs are processed with professional optical character recognition (OCR) software before the translation process begins.

As a member of the Organización Mexicana de Traductores (OMT), I issue an official certificate of translation accuracy bearing my professional credentials, RFC, and, when requested, my National System of Researchers (SNI) registration number. For formal, sworn legal procedures (perito traductor), I gladly refer clients to trusted, certified colleagues with whom I collaborate regularly.

For long-term literary projects with established publishing houses, yes — I accept standard industry contracts featuring an advance against royalties indexed to the book's distribution. I do not accept royalty-based agreements for academic articles or scholarly research papers.

Individual Commitments. A 50% retainer is required to schedule and initiate the project, with the remaining 50% due upon completion prior to final file delivery.

Institutional Commitments. University and publishing house commissions are accepted via official Purchase Orders, subject to standard Net 30 terms.

Accepted Methods. Direct Bank Transfer (SPEI/MXN), ACH/SEPA via Wise, and major credit cards via Stripe. All invoices are fully tax-compliant (CFDI 4.0 for domestic clients).

For extensive projects, particularly books or full monographs, I provide a 1,000-word sample translation at no cost before any contract is signed. For research papers and shorter essays, a targeted sample can be integrated directly into the quoting process.
